About Dr. Nikki Tang

Nikki Tang, MD, FAAD, FACMS ("Dr. Tang") is a double board-certified dermatologist and Mohs Micrographic Surgeon. At Apex Dermatology, Dr. Tang specializes in the surgical treatment and management of skin cancers such as melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma through wide local excision, Mohs micrographic surgery, and complex reconstruction including skin flaps and grafts.  Her goal is threefold: to provide surgical care with compassion and excellence, minimize scarring, and provide the highest cure rates possible.

Dr. Tang attended Brown University for both her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and her Doctorate in Medicine. Her dermatology residency and fellowship were completed in New York City at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Tang's fellowship was an intensive and highly selective 1-year program providing training in Mohs surgery and cutaneous oncology. She specializes in complex wound reconstruction, rare tumor pathology, and difficult tumor locations.  Her training program is amongst a limited number of programs that are approved by both the Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and The American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS).

After finishing her training, Dr. Tang joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where she was the Director of Cutaneous Surgery and Oncology. In addition, she was the Assistant Program Director for the dermatology residency program where she oversaw the surgical training of the dermatology residents.  While in academics, she lectured nationally and authored multiple publications on a variety of topics relating to cutaneous surgery.

Dr. Tang is also board-certified in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery.  In addition, she is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), whose membership is only granted to Mohs surgeons who have completed an approved 1-2 year advanced fellowship. She has treated over 5000 skin cancers with Mohs and reconstructive surgery.

Her passions outside of treating skin cancer include fishing, diving, travel, skiing, music, and enjoying the great outdoors!
