Varicose Vein and Spider Vein Treatments

Patients love laser vein treatment. Our laser is so advanced it is safe for multiple skin types and doesn't require numbing cream. Laser treatment allows for quick treatment of vascular lesions without damaging the surrounding skin. Light is absorbed by the blood, destroying the vessel. Over time, the vessel disappears, restoring the skin’s natural appearance.

Apex Dermatology also offers traditional chemical sclerotherapy. During this procedure, we inject an extremely comfortable glycerin solution directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.

Sclerotherapy is a proven procedure that has been in use since the 1930s. It may not be suitable for all patients, especially women who may be pregnant.

What to Expect

The day before the procedure, you will shave the area to be treated. The laser equipment will be adjusted according to the color, thickness, and location of your hair being treated as well as your skin color.

Depending on the laser or light source used, you and the technician will need to wear appropriate eye protection. It will also be necessary to protect the outer layers of your skin with a cold gel or special cooling device. This will help the laser light penetrate the skin.

Next, the technician will give a pulse of light to the treatment area and watch the area to assess and adjust settings.

After some treatments, there may be creams, lotions or cold cloths applied. You may schedule your next treatment four to eight weeks later. You will continue treatments until you reach adequate reduction in hair growth, which often takes five to eight treatments.
