Vein Treatment

Sclerotherapy is an injectable treatment for small and medium-sized varicose or spider veins. At Apex Dermatology, we treat small or mini varicose veins or spider veins that can be seen on the skin. For the legs, sclerotherapy is an option, and it entails injecting the afflicted vein with a solution—Asclera at Apex Dermatology, specifically—which causes it to collapse and eventually disappear. Sclerotherapy can be done as an alternative to or instead of laser vein treatment. Laser vein treatment is also available at our office and a frequent choice for many clients.

Clients with red faces, broken blood vessels, and vascular bumps like hemangiomas or superficial varicose veins are often self-conscious about the appearance of their legs. They may experience discomfort, pain, or embarrassing redness. The team at Apex Dermatology best describes laser vein treatment as a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat energy from the laser to target and seal off damaged, enlarged, or superficial veins. Your body resorbs the collapsed vessels over the next month and improves the overall appearance of the area. This results in the redirection of blood flow to healthier veins, improving both the look and symptoms associated with varicose veins.

Laser vein treatment works by targeting and heating the damaged or enlarged veins using a specific portion of light energy. The resulting heat energy hits the specific target and causes the veins to close, redirecting blood flow to healthier veins. Over time, the treated veins are absorbed by the body and disappear, resulting in an improved appearance of the legs or other treated areas. At Apex Dermatology, we utilize a laser device called the Excel V 1064nm wavelength for fine varicosities of the legs. Our trained healthcare professionals perform this procedure, which typically takes 15-30 minutes to complete, and a series is a great way to approach your goals. Clients might experience discomfort during the procedure, but it is usually well-tolerated and requires no anesthesia. The laser also has a cooling sapphire tip and glides over cooled gel, both of which provide excellent comfort and skin support. If a person is very nervous, we offer ProNox for added comfort.

Laser treatment of spider veins of the nose, mid-face, full-face, chest, arms, or other body areas can do a wonderful job of reducing or removing linear or spider veins and potentially reduce overall redness of the face. For linear vessels, we can trace those with the Excel V 532nm wavelength and then manage overall redness and treat the whole area with the same laser with our custom treatment protocols. With our extensive expertise in managing redness or purple or pink broken blood vessels, we choose our favorite protocols for the 532nm laser, and for some guests, we may recommend our BBL Vascular treatment protocol. For some guests with rosacea, we may offer a dual package combining a series that includes treatment with each laser. For people with both pigment and blood vessels, we offer a multi-modal approach to reaching your skin goals. These lasers also increase collagen levels, a side benefit of such treatments on our hands. For some clients, maintenance with a vascular targeting treatment spread out over time can help you to continue building collagen or reduce the chance of new visible vessel formation.
