Apex Dermatology prefers erbium lasers as they get the results we want with less disruption of surrounding tissue than CO2. Keep in mind that the recovery time can be a little longer than other techniques, but the results are often dramatic and long-lasting.
2. Non-Ablative Lasers
If you are looking for a gentler solution with less downtime, non-ablative lasers might be perfect for you. Pico devices provide the laser energy so quickly that the pigment gets shifted without as much skin bother so tattoos go away faster than with other tattoo removal lasers. For tattoos, which require more intensity, we give some local numbing at the site before treatment. For people with sunspots, we can target them as individual spots over a series of treatments as the spot lights up and then clears over a week and no numbing is needed. Pico-toning is also a highly preferred way to gently balance pigment and tone up your collagen with no downtime and no pain or need for numbing. Pico-toning is safe for people of all skin backgrounds and a great way to shape up and even out pigmented skin after accidental excess sun exposure or unwanted blotchy situations.
